I went exploring this afternoon in Lorrach after visiting a friend in the hospital. German hospitals are a story for another time, not bad if you don't mind the lack of privacy. Anyway, I found the right tram, got off at the wrong stop which gave me a beautiful walk out of the town and up the hill to Rotteln Castle. It was a day when I was reminded that I'm not in the U.S. anymore. The view from the top was gorgeous. It was a relaxing afternoon. Here are a few more pictures of the castle and from my walk.
After my successful explorations of a castle and town I had never been to before I wanted to stop in and see some friends who I had visited several times before. I got completely lost. It didn't help that the person giving directions said turn right, away from the church and right definatley went toward the church. I'm still a little concerned that I don't know which way right is but fairly certain I did indeed go right. I walked a really long way and though I knew I must have gone too far it was so pretty that I kept going further and didn't think about it too much. Then I was really lost and someone had to come pick me up in the car. Oh well, I think I need to get a map.
